23 July 2025

Exercise your legal right and recover your money from CNS – with the support of MedicalAdvisor.pl

Are you insured in Luxembourg and planning medical treatment in Poland?

Or have you already paid for a dental visit, a dental prosthesis, or a surgical procedure in a Polish clinic?

Good news – you have the right to apply for reimbursement of treatment costs from CNS (Caisse Nationale de Santé), in accordance with EU Cross-Border Healthcare Directive 2011/24/EU.

At MedicalAdvisor.pl Sp. z o.o., we specialize in such matters. For years, we have been successfully assisting patients from EU countries in recovering money for treatments received in Poland.

We know the regulations, procedures, and requirements of foreign institutions – and we know how to conduct the entire process efficiently, correctly, and effectively.

Who is eligible to apply for reimbursement of treatment in Poland?

Any person insured under the Luxembourg healthcare system (i.e. covered by CNS – Caisse Nationale de Santé) may apply for reimbursement of treatment costs incurred in another EU country, including Poland.

This applies to:

  • employed persons,

  • their family members,

  • children,

  • pensioners,

  • and persons temporarily residing outside Luxembourg.

What types of treatment are eligible for reimbursement from CNS?

According to the applicable CNS regulations, reimbursement may apply to the following:

  • ✔ dental treatment (fillings, root canal treatment, tooth extractions),

  • ✔ prosthetic treatment (crowns, bridges, dentures),

  • ✔ hospital care (including surgical, orthopedic, gynecological procedures),

  • ✔ specialist consultations (e.g. orthodontist, dermatologist, cardiologist),

  • ✔ purchase of medicines and medical devices (e.g. splints, orthopedic insoles, hearing aids),

  • ✔ diagnostic tests (X-ray, MRI, ultrasound, colonoscopy).

CNS reimburses expenses according to the current Luxembourg tariff system, the latest version of which has been in force since 01/04/2025.

In most cases, a partial or full reimbursement of incurred costs is granted, depending on the type of treatment and applicable rates.

What are the tariff codes and why are they important?

CNS settles medical services based on an official nomenclature of procedures and tariffs (e.g. Nomenclature des actes et services for doctors, dentists, hospitals).

Each service is assigned a specific code and applicable tariff, as outlined in the currently binding list – such as the version effective from 01/04/2025.

At MedicalAdvisor.pl, we prepare documentation and cost estimates in accordance with this classification, significantly increasing the chances of a positive reimbursement decision.

How does the reimbursement procedure work?

1. You collect documentation:

  • original invoices for treatment,

  • proof of payment (e.g. bank transfers, signed receipts),

  • detailed description of treatment (diagnosis, methods used, materials applied).

2. You submit your application to CNS.

⏳ Applications must be submitted within 2 years from the date of payment.

3. You wait for a decision – CNS usually processes applications and issues the reimbursement within 4–8 weeks.

📌 In the case of certain planned treatments (e.g. surgeries), prior authorization from CNS or an S2 form may be required.
